We are calling on all mobile phone providers to have a consensus when dealing with victims of crime. We each had very different experiences with each of our providers. None of us found it easy. It was an additional stress in an already incredibly difficult situation.
If an individual has to hand over their phone as evidence we expect that:
- Victims of crime (with a crime reference number) should not have to pay for the mobile phone they are unable to use
- Victims of crime should be told they can be sent a free replacement sim and the police will STILL be able to access what they need from the sim they have
- We are calling on mobile phone providers to provide replacement phones that can be used in our loan a phone scheme
